There is a hill along the road right next to my house,
and i like it cuz it isn't very steep
but when i ride my scooter down to nostrand avenue
i achieve such brilliant speeds!
and at the bottom of the street
i've got no better place to be
i turn my wheels toward the sun
i take my camera out,
the children laugh and shout
lord i was their age the last time i had this much fun
on a long scoot home
where everything around me looks so pretty
on a long scoot home
where i can be alone with my city
I took the old pulaski bridge from queens to brooklyn
and before i knew it i had lost my way
it wasn't until i hit the cemetery in bushwick
that i realized i had been led astray
i've never been out here,
god i must look so queer
white boy watchya gonna do?
i keep my smile on, before they know i'm gone
i was only passing through
on a long scoot home
where everything around me looks so pretty
on a long scoot home
where i can be alone with my city
the only thing i need
is my faithful steed
a well-groomed city street
an afternoon alone and free
and when pedestrians
flash me an off-hand grin
or even when they frown,
god i love this town
on a long scoot home
where everything around me looks so pretty
on a long scoot home
where i can be alone with my city
